Theme: There is no disciple/ believer/ perfect Christian

Goal: That by His grace and through His Word, God will move us to patiently and faithfully find ourselves in His will in Christ Jesus as Children of God and live in confidence.

Other texts: Acts 5:12-32, Revelations 1:4-18

INTRODUCTION: Today is pick on Tomas Day,

He runs away when Jesus is arrested.

He was not there at crucifixion.

He was not there with Nicodemus/Joseph of Arimathea.

He was not with the disciples.

He said he wouldn’t believe unless….

I. There is no perfect disciple.

  •  So often we are faithful to other things and we abandon God.
  •  So often we want a life of glory as to wanting to abandon the cross and crucifixion.
  •  So often we leave the responsibility to others.
  •  So often we abandon not only Jesus but also His disciples.
  •  So often we want to negotiate with God and impose our will.
  •  Thomas was not a perfect disciple/ none of the twelve were perfect disciples/ You are not a perfect disciple.

(TRANSITION)

II. The patience/ Grace/ and love of Christ.

  • With the disciples/ His church
  • With Thomas/His disciples
  • With Peter/ His disciples
  • With John/ His disciples.
  • With those to come, Paul/ His disciples.
  • With us/ His church/ with you

III. God makes of you the perfect Disciple.
(God does not call the perfect people but perfects the people He calls).

  • When they gathered Jesus Came.
  • Provided for their greatest need.
  • Provided for specific needs to every person.
  • Provides for us today.

May our Risen Lord provide for you His grace and through it, you may in a perfect way always be in His presence, His service, His joy, His peace, His promise. Amen.
